Man’s League Recap – Week 2

Sorry about the delay with the week 2 recap. I’ll make more of an effort to get the week 3 recap out on Monday.

  • Swedish Canada Niklas defeated The 06010 Board Nick 6-3-1
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    The 06010 Board Nick (8-11-1) 24 6 21 5 .2018 52 4 1 3.323 1.123 3-6-1
    Swedish Canada Niklas (11-7-2) 40 13 40 8 .2891 52 1 3 4.709 1.169 6-3-1

Good starting pitching saved Nick from being blown out by Niklas. Niklas is a solid SP away from having a team that’ll compete for the championship. Big weeks from Adam Jones and Paul Goldschmidt powered Niklas’ week with a combined 12 R, 6 HR, 18 RBI, 1 SB, .404 BA.

  • Tom The Intern defeated Maple Syrup David 7-2-1
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    Tom The Intern (8-10-2) 45 8 37 5 .2708 48 4 1 5.363 1.253 7-2-1
    Maple Syrup David (7-12-1) 22 4 19 2 .2404 42 3 1 2.842 1.132 2-7-1

Tom rebounded from his abysmal week 1 performance. His pitching is still coming around but the offense is looking pretty balanced. Steven Souza was Tom’s MVP of the week (5 R, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 3 SB, .379 BA).

  • Swiss Superman Michel defeated Greyhound KC 7-1-2
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    Greyhound KC (6-12-2) 33 9 33 5 .2234 56 6 3 5.217 1.377 1-7-2
    Swiss Superman Michel (15-2-3) 47 12 42 5 .2904 73 6 1 4.500 1.355 7-1-2

Michel had another dominant week and is looking like an early favorite to win the league. His pitching ratios could be better but when you dominate the hitting categories, Wins and Ks, the ratios can suffer.

  • BBQ Sauce Joel defeated Canadian #1 Carl 6-4-0
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    Canadian #1 Carl (7-13) 30 9 35 5 .2066 46 4 0 4.987 1.701 4-6-0
    BBQ Sauce Joel (11-9) 32 5 27 1 .2717 51 2 3 3.224 1.209 6-4-0

These are two fairly matched teams and the results showed this. Joel has some pretty solid pitching but needs to have his power bats come around (Granderson, Gattis, Byrd).

  • Secret Squirrel defeated Suckuptosteffie Tom 7-3-0
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    Suckuptosteffie Tom (9-11) 34 6 23 7 .2383 15 0 8 4.200 1.733 3-7-0
    Secret Squirrel (14-6) 21 5 30 8 .2691 54 3 2 4.032 1.127 7-3-0

The bearded one continued his early season success with another 7-3-0 win. Daniel didn’t have the best week statistically but benefited from Tom’s strategy (all closers) not working out this week.

  • Canadian #2 Ryan defeated Fantasy Wizard Tyler 7-3-0
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    Canadian #2 Ryan (16-4) 34 8 30 4 .2342 61 6 5 1.456 0.971 7-3-0
    Fantasy Wizard Tyler (7-13) 35 6 29 2 .2633 52 3 6 3.279 0.986 3-7-0

Ryan accumulated a great pitching line this week with 6 great combined starts from deGrom, Cole and Greene. Tyler had an unfortunate draw this week and could’ve easily had a winning record if he had played any other team in the league. This was a playoff quality matchup where all the categories were solid and close.

  • EMT Jack defeated Shiba Inu Sean 7-3-0
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    Shiba Inu Sean (8-12) 25 6 28 5 .2582 50 4 6 4.829 1.293 3-7-0
    EMT Jack (8-12) 35 14 48 6 .3125 21 1 0 3.000 0.944 7-3-0

Jack stormed back from a poor week 1 performance and lead the league in BA and HRs. His pitching numbers weren’t that great but he benefited from great performances from his group of middle relievers.

  • Combo Meals Ryan defeated Pod Vader 6-4-0
    TEAM   BATTERS   PITCHERS   TOTAL
NAME R HR RBI SB AVG K W SV ERA WHIP SCORE
    Combo Meals Ryan (10-9-1) 37 10 49 5 .2676 43 3 5 3.420 1.340 6-4-0
    Pod Vader (9-11) 36 6 31 7 .2797 49 6 4 4.190 1.414 4-6-0

Another matchup that was close and could’ve gone the other way if there was another day. Neither team was particularly dominant but their stats were all solid and they should be tough teams to play this year.
