2011 Football Board: Week 8 Recap

As you can see from my previous post, there weren’t any new bets this week and I introduced a semi-regular feature to the blog. My wife did a good job with her initial sneaky pickup of the week with Antonio Brown (12 fantasy points on 9 receptions, 67 yards and a TD). I don’t anticipate a sneaky pickup this week but that could all change. I’d like to know what you guys think of this and what else you’d like to see on the blog, so leave me some feedback. I would greatly appreciate it. Now on to the week 8 recap!

Open:

  1. Over/Under 1,500 Total Yards for Felix Jones
Felix was out this week and is still at 360 yards. He may return in week 9 but I think that it’s now DeMarco Murray’s job and Felix won’t get anywhere near 1,500 total yards.
    Projected: Under (Nate)
  2. Who has more fantasy points: DeAngelo Williams or LeGarrette Blount?
DeAngelo didn’t do a whole lot again and still trails Blount by a score of 54-43. The faith I had in DeAngelo is gone and LaGarrette should run away with this bet once he returns to action.
    Projected: LeGarrette Blount (Matthew)
  3. Who has more fantasy points: Kevin Kolb or Sam Bradford?
Kolb is horrible and yet he may win this bet due to Bradford’s injury. Bradford may return soon since he’s no longer in a boot but STL may not want to rush him back since they’re no where close to the playoffs. Bradford is down 48-79 and that may just be too much to overcome.
    Projected: Kevin Kolb (Nate)
  4. Who has more fantasy points: Cedric Benson or Shonn Greene?
Benson was on suspension and Greene was on bye so this bet is still 56-55 in Benson’s favor. I still have more faith in Benson since Bernard Scott didn’t really do much to force a timeshare in Cincy.
    Projected: Cedric Benson (Nate)
  5. Who has more fantasy points: Mario Manningham or Jeremy Maclin?
Manningham finally had a nice week but then so did Maclin. Manningham should have some good upcoming weeks given Nicks’ injury but Maclin is just too far ahead (74-32).
    Projected: Jeremy Maclin (Matthew)
  6. Will Knowshon Moreno be a top 15 RB?
Moreno is creeping back up the RB charts and is now #54 but Tebow will limit the amount of production from Moreno.
    Projected: No (Nate)
  7. Will Matt Ryan outscore Joe Flacco by 25 pts?
Flacco wasn’t horrible but he wasn’t great and managed only 10 fantasy points. Ryan was on bye so his lead is now down to 92-87. Ryan will pull away as he’s not as inconsistent as Flacco.
    Projected: Yes (Nate)
  8. Over/Under 23.5 TDs for Redskins QBs
Ugh. No passing TDs for Beck this week so they’re still at 7 TDs. Moving on.
    Projected: Under (Nate)
  9. Will Johnny Knox outscore Nate Burleson by 20 pts?
Knox was on bye and Burleson picked up 2 fantasy points. Both guys will continue to be unreliable and will most likely end up with very similar numbers.
    Projected: No (Matthew)
  10. Who has more fantasy points (in a PPR league): Stevie Johnson or Dez Bryant?
Johnson once again had a solid game and extended his lead to 102-80. Bryant only picked up 5 points and is seemingly feast or famine.
    Projected: Stevie Johnson (Nate)
  11. Who has more fantasy points: Reggie Wayne or Santonio Holmes?
Wayne took the lead, 50-47, with Holmes on bye. Wayne just isn’t going to do anything in the Indy offense this year. I like Holmes to pick up his production a bit as Mark Sanchez isn’t horrible this year.
    Projected: Santonio Holmes (Matthew)
  12. Who has more fantasy points: Chester Taylor or LaRod Stephens-Howling?
LRSH picked up another point and probably put the nail in the coffin for this bet. He leads 15-3 now and I’ll have to check to see if Taylor is still on the Cardinals.
    Projected: LaRod Stephens-Howling (Matthew)
  13. Will Jordy Nelson be a top 20 WR (using ppg)?
Nelson was on bye and stayed put at #12 on the WR list
    Projected: Yes (Nate)
  14. Will Dwayne Bowe be a top 20 WR?
Bowe dropped to #7 and should be fine as Kansas City has turned their season around from their horrendous start.
    Projected: Yes (Nate)
  15. Who has more fantasy points from week 5 on: Laurent Robinson or Titus Young?
Both guys actually had nice weeks, which surprised me. Robinson leads 22-14 and was the byproduct of Philly shutting down Dez and Austin. Robinson seems to be catching on in Dallas and may be a nice option for Romo is defenses take out Austin and/or Dez.
    Projected: Laurent Robinson (Nate)
  16. Who averages more fantasy points per game from week 7 on: Josh Freeman or Sam Bradford?
Both guys did not play in week 8, so Freeman still leads 10 ppg to 0 ppg. I still like Bradford more with the addition of Lloyd and the pass catching abilities of SJax.
    Projected: Bradford (Matthew)

After 8 weeks, I’m projecting Nate to win the board 14-12.
