Sneaky Pickups of the Week: Brown Edition

I’m hoping to make this a weekly feature, so long as my wife makes her recommendations in a timely fashion (no pressure, honey). I tend to trust her long shot pickups as she has picked up the following players over the years:

Brandon Lloyd (Added Sept 30, 2010)
Mike Tolbert (Added Sept 23, 2010)
Kenny Britt (Added Oct 14, 2010)
Josh Freeman (Added Oct 28, 2010)
Eric Decker (Added Sept 17, 2011)
Darrius Heyward-Bey (Added Oct 13, 2011)
Stevan Ridley (Added Sept 30, 2011)

While the latter three guys haven’t really panned out yet, the timeliness of the their pickups have been key. Lloyd has been her best pickup to date and she did this despite my trashing of Lloyd saying he hadn’t done anything in the league for years. I continue to eat crow on that call.

The following pickups are based upon the league that my wife plays in, which is a standard, 12-team ESPN league.

Antonio Brown
(WR) *Sneaky pickup of the week*
He can catch things one-handed and that’s always awesome. He should see more opportunities with Hines Ward is out with his “undisclosed” injuries.

Kregg Lumpkin (RB)
Potential is there to get some touches with Graham done for the year and Blount still nursing his knee injury.

LaRod Stephens-Howling (RB)
Another guy that’s on the fringe of being a pickup. Wait another week before making him a sneaky pick up.

Alfonso Smith (RB)
Same thing as Stephens-Howling. There’s not a lot out there for RBs and the matchup against Baltimore is not promising.

Dezmon Briscoe (WR)
Keep an eye on him. Came out of nowhere in week 7 and may get in to Freeman’s favor.
