2011 Football Board: Week 3 Recap 1

Normally, I like to have the weekly recaps out on the Tuesdays once the stats and scoring are final but I had to run through the 2011 Baseball Board for my appearance on the 2010 2011 Baseball Wrap-up show. Next week, I’ll be back on schedule.

Closed:

  1. Who has more fantasy points in week 3: Devery Henderson or Mike Thomas?
One 36 yard TD pass in a monsoon was what sealed the win for Thomas, as he beat Henderson 11-6.
    Winner: Mike Thomas (Matthew)
  2. Who has more fantasy points in week 3: Thomas Jones or Ryan Grant/Brandon Jacobs?
Ryan Grant came out of nowhere to rack up 9 fantasy points and Brandon Jacobs, of all people, had a 40 yard TD reception and managed 13 points. Jones wasn’t man enough and only had 3 points.
    Winner: Ryan Grant/Brandon Jacobs (Matthew)
  3. Who has more fantasy points in week 3: Thomas Jones or Shonn Greene?
Shonn Greene won this bet with his work in the passing game as he had 7 receptions for 47 yards. Greene on the bet 9-3.
    Winner: Shonn Greene (Matthew)

Open:

  1. Over/Under 1,500 Total Yards for Felix Jones
Jones actually had a productive week despite a shoulder injury. He brought his total yardage up to 251 yards and is on pace for 1,255 total yards.
    Projected: Under (Nate)
  2. Who has more fantasy points: DeAngelo Williams or LeGarrette Blount?
I’m officially worried about DeAngelo. Granted he played in a monsoon last week, it still marks the 3rd week in a row where he’s been a bust. I still believe he’ll come around but Blount may have too large a lead by that point. Blount leads 29-8.
    Projected: LeGarrette Blount (Matthew)
  3. Who has more fantasy points: Kevin Kolb or Sam Bradford?
It’s tough to rack up fantasy points when you don’t have any weapons to throw to. Bradford is slowly falling behind Kolb’s steady performances. Kolb is leading the bet 45-29.
    Projected: Kevin Kolb (Nate)
  4. Who has more fantasy points: Cedric Benson or Shonn Greene?
Benson leads 30-21 after both guys had decent weeks. I’m not so sure I believe that Greene will get 7 receptions each week but it was nice to see. While Benson is playing, I like him more than Greene, but as soon as he has to serve a suspension, I’m jumping over to the Greene bandwagon.
    Projected: Cedric Benson (Nate)
  5. Who has more fantasy points: Mario Manningham or Jeremy Maclin?
Maclin should be fine with whoever is throwing to him in Philly. His week 2 performance may have provided him with enough of a cushion to sustain this lead through the season. Maclin leads 37-9.
    Projected: Jeremy Maclin (Matthew)
  6. Will Knowshon Moreno be a top 15 RB?
This is a repeat from last week…if it ain’t broke…If you don’t play, you can’t move up in the rankings. He’s currently sitting at #67 in the RB rankings.
    Projected: No (Nate)
  7. Will Matt Ryan outscore Joe Flacco by 25 pts?
Flacco’s huge week 3 performance gives him the leads in the bet 54-39. Ryan needs to cut down on his turnovers if he wants his 300 yard passing games to actually be worth something. Flacco may not be consistent yet but mark me as a little worried with Atlanta’s performance so far.
    Projected: No (Matthew)
  8. Over/Under 23.5 TDs for Redskins QBs
Grossman picked up another TD to put the yearly total at 5 and he’s on pace for 26.7 TDs. As a Redskins fan, I’m moving on to the next wager so I can forget this game.
    Projected: Over (Matthew)
  9. Will Johnny Knox outscore Nate Burleson by 20 pts?
Currently tied at 18-18, but Burleson disappeared in week 3 and only picked up a point. I still like Burleson to keep pace since I just don’t trust Cutler to give Knox huge games.
    Projected: No (Matthew)
  10. Who has more fantasy points (in a PPR league): Stevie Johnson or Dez Bryant?
Stevie Johnson increased his lead again this week and is currently leading 62-26. Dez may not be the beast he’s supposed to be quite yet and Johnson is looking very solid for the surprising Bills.
    Projected: Stevie Johnson (Nate)
  11. Who has more fantasy points: Reggie Wayne or Santonio Holmes?
Wayne leads 24-18 but I’m not really comfortable with that lead. Curtis Painter looks to be the week 4 starter in Indy and that can’t be good for his production. On the other side of the bet, Holmes only managed one reception in a game where Mark Sanchez threw the ball 43 times. Despite this off game, I’ll stick with the guy that has a legit NFL QB throwing his way.
    Projected: Santonio Holmes (Matthew)
  12. Who has more fantasy points: Chester Taylor or LaRod Stephens-Howling?
Well, Taylor managed to see some action in week 3 to pull out to a commanding 3-1 lead. His performance was not inspiring. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him bumped further down the depth chart. I still like LRSH to vulture some carries later on in the season.
    Projected: LaRod Stephens-Howling (Matthew)
  13. Will Jordy Nelson be a top 20 WR (using ppg)?
3 receptions for 40 yards sounds more like what I’d expect out of Nelson. He’s currently the #17 WR, based upon points per game.
    Projected: No (Matthew)
  14. Will Dwayne Bowe be a top 20 WR?
He still managed to have a decent game and improved his ranking up to #25 but I think he’s more of a top 30 WR with the mess in Kansas City.
    Projected: No (Matthew)

A couple of projected were flipped this week and Matthew came out on top with getting another be in his favor. I currently have him projected to win the board 15-6. His apparent strategy of making the weekly bets is paying off as he swept all three wagers they had in week 3.
